What players say
Maybe its just me but so many runs feel lie a waste of time. alot of losses dont leave the impression like i could have done better just that i got beat with no option offered along the way to win here. overtime the balance is more frustrating than fun. I wanna love the game but I'm just getting annoyed that it feels like you need great luck or to no life to find the most op stuff to have basic enjoyment
I've slain the Spire twice, and it's still one of the best deckbuilders ever made. Every run feels different, every class plays uniquely, and "just one more run" is a dangerous phrase. Sublime Co-op is included, because losing together builds character.
Even though the game has a very high skill ceiling, it doesn't take too much practice before the player is able to have fun.
My only major issue with the game comes down to Act 1 is far too front-loaded—enemies deal way too much damage before you’ve had a chance to draft enough cards to build a viable deck. After 500+ hours and beating steam://launch/2868840/DialogAscension 10 on every character, I feel like I've spent 80% of my total playtime stuck grinding through the first act.
Too hard. Will stick with the first game which is virtually identical with the exception of it being a bit fairer and easier, unless they make some changes during Early Access.
This game feels like a massive waste of time. Whether I play alone or with a friend, the experience ends up feeling the same virtually every run. The enemies are ridiculously over-tuned to punish the player for having anything less than a ruthlessly efficient deck that can simultaneously block and deal lots of damage every single turn. I don't even understand what the game wants me to be doing, as it feels like it's just smacking me and making a loud buzzing sound every time I try to engage with it.
